Networking With Confidence

March 15th, 2010

Professionals strive to be successful in every area of their lives whether it is in their business or family lives. When it comes to business life, you can expect business people to spend a lot of time developing their skills and character for their career endeavors. It is no surprise that many professionals are leaning towards networking as a tool for developing professionalism, gaining resources and developing key relationships for economic and social gain. One of the key components to a successful networker is confidence. Confidence is a shining light that attracts clients and referrals and can exponentially build your image or brand. How can professionals identify key ways of being confident at networking events? How can professionals find unique ways to increase and build on their confidence while networking? How can professionals use confidence as a pathway for future networking success?

Confidence comes in many shapes and sizes. The first step to developing your confidence is to know your personality type. Professionals should learn how they best interact with others. Making a list of personality strengths and weakness is a great way to identify your personality type. When you have identified your three biggest strengths, use those as fuel for initiating conversations and making a good first impression with other business counterparts. Knowing who you are and how you conduct business is definitely a confidence plus.

The next step is to learn how your skills and abilities relate to your profession or career. What makes you the best lawyer in your office or company? What makes you the most recognizable person on your team? How were you able to lead in sales this month in your company or organization? These factors can enlighten your business counterpart and spark a variety of interest. People will be more interested in who you are than what you sell or what you do.

The final step in showing confidence while networking is to be familiar with up to date information about your field of work. Being knowledgeable about your business is the best way to gain trust and loyalty with new and old customers and clients. People need to know valuable and correct information from the right source. As a professional in your industry, you can position yourself as an expert in your field. This will not only increase your visibility but will also reinforce your brand. The best ways to be knowledgeable about your industry is to join professional groups, subscribe to trend magazines, attend trade shows/conferences. As a professional you can do your own research, write articles or blogs and newsletters with important information.

Top 5 Work at Home Mistakes

December 21st, 2009

The following outlines the top five mistakes people make when they work at home or are trying to work at home. By understanding these top five mistakes a person can avoid them and therefore have a better chance of being successful at working at home.

Mistake #1

Not being serious or professional.

Working at home is a job. For some reason people tend to think they can slack off or not take it seriously. It should always be approached as any job would. Being professional and serious is important if a person ever wants to find an employer to hire them. Professionalism goes beyond just dealing with employers but also extends to the online presence a person has. With anything online it is important to remember that anyone can access it unless it is private. This means social networking sites, even single site, may be seen by a potential employer. Do not put anything out there that you can not be proud of your employer seeing or reading.

Mistake #2

Falling for a scam.

Most people who fall for a work at home scam do so because they have not taking the time to research scams and learn how to spot them. Scams can cause a lot of trouble and may even make you a target for other scammers. A person has to be educated and learn as much as possible about work at home scams so they do not fall victim to them.

Mistake #3

Not networking.

One of the most important parts of working at home is networking. Without networking a person is trying to do it alone and that will rarely work out in their best interest. Networking has to be part of the process so a person can meet others who work at home and get advice and help when they need it.

Mistake #4

Not going for it all.

Many times people are so happy to find some work at home job that they never even try to find something they really love. There are so many options out there that a person can not be afraid to keep looking and always be seeking out that perfect job.

Mistake #5

Not getting educated.

As mentioned, not being educated about the work at home environment is a huge mistake. Not only can it cause problems, like falling for a scam, but it can really limit a person. Getting educated is the best way to be successful and really have a good experience with working at home.

These top five mistakes may not seem all that big, but they are all very important to understand. Making one of them may not mean the end of a work at home career, but making a couple or all of them could spell tragedy and possible end any chance of a person ever working from home.

Why Is That Only A Small Percentage of Network Markerters Earn Big Money?

November 29th, 2009

The reason why most people have problems with their network marketing business is because they don’t truly understand how the industry works. Often, this is because they were sold a pack of lies from some company that reeled them in on false hopes and promises. Some simply joined because they were sold on the idea that they could quit their job and work from home if they just buy a distributorship and call some leads.

It’s a classic scam; you are told a lot of promises in the beginning about what a great opportunity it is, how you don’t need any experience to begin with and you will be have a residual income working hard for the first few years. However, once you are inside, you will face many challenges and realise that there is no truth in it.

Mind you this business is fun and simple if you let it be, but it will take the tenacity, dedication, and professionalism to earn six figures incomes.

Did you know that 95% of people who get into network marketing have no prior sales experience?

The majority of the people who join this industry do so without the intention of becoming a professional network marketer, yet that is exactly what is asked of you if you wish to make a full-time/six-figure income.

This leads to serious difficulties as networking marketing does involve selling and marketing, regardless of what some mlm distributors may have said to you to get you to sign up.

This is one of the biggest mistakes that people make in network marketing. They think the product will sell itself while they just share the company and products information. Yes, mlm is indeed a simple business but it does take the tenacity and professionalism to make it a 6 figure income.

Your Business Has Nothing To Do With Your Company.

Your Job/Business is Marketing

Yes, you heard me right. Your business is marketing.

He, who markets and promotes best, wins.

Success has got nothing to do with the best company, best product and the best compensation plan.

Another common mistake is to think you will be able to sell to your friends and family. Many networking marketing or mlm programs encourage you to share these great opportunities with your friends and family first when in reality, your friends and family may not even want or like the product. If you do make sales, it may be from people that feel obligated or are just giving it a try to get you off their backs. Don’t depend on your family and friends to make you rich from an mlm program. Even if they are kind enough to buy from you, chances are you won’t become a millionaire in this way.

You see, this is an industry of marketing and promotion pursued by people who have no idea how to market or promote.

The fact is true mlm success comes from training, experience, expertise and even practice. Can you make a good living from it? Sure, you can. Can you be highly rich and successful? In time, yes you can. But don’t expect it to be an overnight miracle success. And don’t think that you can achieve this without some work involved. If network marketing is so simple that anyone could do it and products sold themselves, wouldn’t we all be millionaires?

As I mentioned earlier on, your business is marketing. This is why you must align yourself with a group of marketers that is really going to show you the common denominators of their success and leverage on their experiences. This will eliminate 90% of your learning curve that typically causes most people to fail and give up on their initial dreams.

I just want you to understand that if you are not creating a constant flow of leads day in and day out or if you are not putting your business in front of 5 to 10 people a day, your dream will remain just a dream.

What about all the success stories you hear in your company? One way or another, they found a way to be in front of lots of prospects EVERY day passively. How? They either leveraged other people on their teams or from their systems.

Simply put, traditional marketing is an ineffective ’shotgun’ marketing strategy because a scatter shot won’t get you very far and it has become more expensive. The public is bombarded with commercial ads and making matters worse for businesses is that today’s technology have literally enabled people to put up a firewall around their lives.

Note that, I am not against the traditional form of network marketing. They have their place and importance. In fact, word of mouth has the best conversion rate. Nevertheless, you are pretty blind as to whom you are addressing with traditional marketing. You have no idea of their interests, their tendencies, and more importantly, if they are at all likely to be interested in what you have to offer. You simply cannot sell steaks to a vegetarian!

You probably already know this basic stuff. Get to know your prospects by building a relationship with them. However, this is one skill newbie find it hard to grasp all at once which make them reluctant to go out to talk with people.

But, there is a solution which is still not known to most business owners.

What Does Online marketing Mean To You?

Bottom line: With today’s advancements in technology, if you own a home business and you are NOT marketing online, you won’t be a business owner for much longer.

Online marketing changes that and gives your marketing ’sniper’ like accuracy. With online marketing, you aren’t interested in marketing to everybody. You are only interested in those who have an interest in what you have to offer and you will only market (spend money) on those who have an interest in what you have got.

How do you do that?

The quickest way is to use Google to tell you who are interested in what you have got because over 90% of internet users are using Google for searching. This number is growing at a phenomenal rate each year. You bet Google can also tell you what a particular group of people is interested in. This is the key!

In short, building a business online is so much more effective. You can be in front of thousands of people in a short period of time. That means your customer list keeps growing, every minute without you. Yes, to begin it will take great effort and time in creating your capture page, sales letters, follow-up emails but you only do this once.

Now that’s leverage.

Are you envious of all those people who make a living using the internet? Please don’t. You can have what they have achieved if you are willing to give it a go. Building online business is not rocket science although it has a bit of art and science to it.

You have to look at marketing as a funnel. You start with a wide top that captures people who are interested in the product you have to offer and you qualify those people more and more at each level down of the funnel.

As you proceed with your marketing, your prospects proceed further and further down that funnel, qualifying themselves more and more.

Ultimately, you end up with only the hardcore who are attracted to join your business and those whom cannot wait to purchase your product.

And all of this can be done automatically and cheaply once you setup your attraction marketing system.

If you do this correctly, your marketing costs are self-funded which induces your potential customers to pay for your marketing, regardless of whether they buy your product or not.

5 Useful Tips To Run A Successful Home Based Business

October 5th, 2009

u planning to start a home based business or do you already have one? Here’s 5 tips to help you start and maintain your own home based business :

Tip 1 – Treat every job with professionalism. It’s the same for your home based business. Give it even more importance than any other job! Start thinking like a business owner and get a dedicated bank account, telephone connection and an email address for your real home based business.

Never mix your personal life with your business. If possible, try to use a separate room for your business where no home activities to be allowed there. Then set the business work hours, so that you get your business to be systematic and orderly. This is recommended although you have the freedom to decide when and how long you should work.

Tip 2 – Fix a strict business schedule that you must follow at all times. You should never take breaks or be distracted during working hours for other appointments or needs of the house. Follow your schedule and work during those hours and only then take breaks.

Tip 3 – Self-discipline is very important in a home based business. It requires a lot of hard work and it cannot be taken lightly. Know that you would need a lot of self-discipline to work much harder than what you had been working for a company. Plus expect to work for longer hours too.

The start is usually hard when you just started your home based business. However, once your business has taken off and you start outsourcing some work, you may be able to slowly start enjoying the real freedom of running a home based business. It will take some time to reach this stage but it will come if you persist.

Tip 4 – In any business, advertising plays a crucial part in the success. When you just started, you are not known in the market and hence you have to make yourself known. Places that you can advertise yourself are the internet, banners, print media, etc. You can also use the pay per click method on the internet to jumpstart your business online.

Tip 5 – The final tip is about integrity. You need integrity in order to earn the trust and respect of your customers. By doing so, you are indirectly helping your sales of your products or services. Do not ever underestimate the power of word of mouth. If you have a few satisfied customers, they will start spreading good word about your business!

Therefore, when you start a business, you must understand that sustaining your business takes more effort and time. Remember these tips and never give up on your business and you can be sure of having a successful home based business in the end.
