Home Based Business: How to Pick the Right One

December 27th, 2009

As more and more people are joining the ranks of home business ownership the decision of what to sell, who to join, what does it cost, what is the pay plan all weights into the company you finally choose.

If you’re thinking of starting a home based business part-time or full-time you need to do your homework first. You want the time and effort you put into building the business to be time well spent, not money down the drain.

If you follow these four key elements you are sure to find a winning home business opportunity.

Product

You must know and understand the product. It should be something you are proud of and not embarrassed to sell to friends or your mother-in-law. Is it a product someone would use even if there was not a business opportunity attached to it? Will you use the product on an ongoing basis?

If you can’t say yes to these questions then this is not the product for you and you should continuing looking.

Pay Plan

Is there a lucrative pay plan? By lucrative I mean is it good money and worth your time and efforts. Is it worth you time to make $10.00 a sale or are you looking for larger sums of money like $1,000.00 per sale.

Understanding the pay plan seems to go without saying. However many network marketers get into a company thinking they understand how the plan works, only to be disappointed on their first payment.

Company

You should know or be able to find information on the company. Ideally they should be a stable well established company. If they are knew to the market, you should know something about the founders. Know they are well established marketers or business people.

The most important aspect in your investigation of the company should be to ensure they are not some fly by night operation. If you are going to spend your time, money and efforts selling a product for them, you want to know they are going to be here tomorrow.

Support

Who is there to help you? Very often when you join a Network Marketing company there is no one there to support you; the person that signed you up might have just joined a few days ago themselves.

Make sure the company emphasizes a team atmosphere. Know you will have at least a support desk to contact with questions. This is your business, but being left out in the cold can be lonely and self-defeating.

By following these four simple steps you have a much better chance of success in your home business venture.

MLM – Network Marketing Business – Top 10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started

December 1st, 2009

First of… I think Network Marketing is the best business anyone trying to get away from the “rat race” of being an employee could ever find. It gives you a way to start your own business part -time and still have an income coming in until you can take your new business full-time. However, there are at least 10 things I wish I knew before starting my network marketing, mlm, affiliate marketing, home based business, what ever you want to call it business. Let me save you the many, many years of searching, hundreds of hours of trainings, and thousands upon thousands of dollars spent on flying to seminars, buying audio tapes, CDs, DVDs, and books it took me to find these things out. If you want to be successful in network marketing you must keep these things in mind when first starting out.

#10 YOU MUST HAVE A SINCERE DESIRE TO MAKE BIG MONEY If you do not have the desire to do what ever it takes -for as long as it takes to make your business successful DON’T EVEN START. You will only give yourself excuses of why you are not being successful and end up not only quitting on yourself… but most likely blaming your sponsor, your company, your cat and your dog… for your lack of desire. Desire = NEVER QUIT Attitude!

#9 YOU MUST COMMIT TO DOING YOUR BUSINESS A MINIMUM OF 1 HR/DAY In reality you would want to spend not less than 10-12 hours per week. That does not include your training, reading personal development books, or cleaning your office!

#8 YOU MUST SPEAK TO OTHER PEOPLE EVERYDAY There are different thoughts on how many people you should to talk per day. All the top leaders I have ever come across say a minimum of 10, but most have talked to at least 30+. You have to decide how fast you want your business to grow… the more people that hear your message per day that faster your business will grow. And remember when speaking with someone EXITEMENT is key!

#7 UNDERSTAND WEALTH All wealth can be traced back to spending time with the “right” people. The “right” people don’t get stuck in getting started. They see a vision of what could be and race towards it!

#6 YOU MUST UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE FAIL If you understand that most people fail because they spend too much time talking to the wrong people, you would know to only look spend time with the right ones. THE RIGHT ones don’t get suck in getting started, have the time and money to start their business or find the time and money. THE RIGHT ARE COACHABLE!

#5 DEFINE WHAT WILL CAUSE YOU TO STOP Ask yourself what will cause you to quit. Define the things you are not willing to do. This definition of what would stop you… must be done with the attitude of “NEVER QUIT” in mind. Then in your road to success avoid doing any of these things and go around the stumbling blocks some else puts in front of you.

#4 CREATE A GOAL BIGGER THAN YOURSELF Put in front of you that what you are doing will help other people. Set as your goal helping others and then set out to achieve it. When it is no longer about you, but it’s about helping others you will find focus and this new found focus will carry you through the down times.

# 3 YOU MUST BE COACHABLE If you think you know everything… your wrong! What I have found out is that no one person has all the answers. No matter how much experience you might have you must remain “coachable”.

# 2 PICKING YOUR SPONSOR You know the main reason most people fail in network marketing is that they only receive training from their sponsor. Signing up with a sponsor that doesn’t lead you to the right training -can only lead your new business to disaster. Sponsor to Rookie training is not a good thing. The industry has always left it up to your sponsor to get you all the information you might need as a newbie. Unfortunately, most sponsors are “rookies” themselves! So make sure your sponsor has a personal relationship with the leaders of the company. Make sure you get their contact information. If you are already in a business make sure you network with the leaders of the company at company events. Learning from someone that has “been there, done that” is the easiest way to succeed!

#1 MUST NEVER RUN OUT OF PEOPLE TO TALK TO This is something you must know upfront. You can’t count on becoming a super star by only talking to five to ten friends. Number 8 sort of tells you this, but if you make a list of 100 friends and business associates… what are you going to do after the first week? There are many ways to never run out of people to talk. Leaving a flyer on a bunch of cars at Wal-Mart is not going to do it! You either have a huge number of “resources” – that’s biz talk for ‘people’…or you have to go out and find more resources. In my next article I will let you know more about how to never run out of potential business associates!

If you would like to learn more about how to have mega recruiting success please look at resource box bellow.

*This article comes with redistribution rights as long as it includes the whole article and the resource box that is located bellow.

Why Is That Only A Small Percentage of Network Markerters Earn Big Money?

November 29th, 2009

The reason why most people have problems with their network marketing business is because they don’t truly understand how the industry works. Often, this is because they were sold a pack of lies from some company that reeled them in on false hopes and promises. Some simply joined because they were sold on the idea that they could quit their job and work from home if they just buy a distributorship and call some leads.

It’s a classic scam; you are told a lot of promises in the beginning about what a great opportunity it is, how you don’t need any experience to begin with and you will be have a residual income working hard for the first few years. However, once you are inside, you will face many challenges and realise that there is no truth in it.

Mind you this business is fun and simple if you let it be, but it will take the tenacity, dedication, and professionalism to earn six figures incomes.

Did you know that 95% of people who get into network marketing have no prior sales experience?

The majority of the people who join this industry do so without the intention of becoming a professional network marketer, yet that is exactly what is asked of you if you wish to make a full-time/six-figure income.

This leads to serious difficulties as networking marketing does involve selling and marketing, regardless of what some mlm distributors may have said to you to get you to sign up.

This is one of the biggest mistakes that people make in network marketing. They think the product will sell itself while they just share the company and products information. Yes, mlm is indeed a simple business but it does take the tenacity and professionalism to make it a 6 figure income.

Your Business Has Nothing To Do With Your Company.

Your Job/Business is Marketing

Yes, you heard me right. Your business is marketing.

He, who markets and promotes best, wins.

Success has got nothing to do with the best company, best product and the best compensation plan.

Another common mistake is to think you will be able to sell to your friends and family. Many networking marketing or mlm programs encourage you to share these great opportunities with your friends and family first when in reality, your friends and family may not even want or like the product. If you do make sales, it may be from people that feel obligated or are just giving it a try to get you off their backs. Don’t depend on your family and friends to make you rich from an mlm program. Even if they are kind enough to buy from you, chances are you won’t become a millionaire in this way.

You see, this is an industry of marketing and promotion pursued by people who have no idea how to market or promote.

The fact is true mlm success comes from training, experience, expertise and even practice. Can you make a good living from it? Sure, you can. Can you be highly rich and successful? In time, yes you can. But don’t expect it to be an overnight miracle success. And don’t think that you can achieve this without some work involved. If network marketing is so simple that anyone could do it and products sold themselves, wouldn’t we all be millionaires?

As I mentioned earlier on, your business is marketing. This is why you must align yourself with a group of marketers that is really going to show you the common denominators of their success and leverage on their experiences. This will eliminate 90% of your learning curve that typically causes most people to fail and give up on their initial dreams.

I just want you to understand that if you are not creating a constant flow of leads day in and day out or if you are not putting your business in front of 5 to 10 people a day, your dream will remain just a dream.

What about all the success stories you hear in your company? One way or another, they found a way to be in front of lots of prospects EVERY day passively. How? They either leveraged other people on their teams or from their systems.

Simply put, traditional marketing is an ineffective ’shotgun’ marketing strategy because a scatter shot won’t get you very far and it has become more expensive. The public is bombarded with commercial ads and making matters worse for businesses is that today’s technology have literally enabled people to put up a firewall around their lives.

Note that, I am not against the traditional form of network marketing. They have their place and importance. In fact, word of mouth has the best conversion rate. Nevertheless, you are pretty blind as to whom you are addressing with traditional marketing. You have no idea of their interests, their tendencies, and more importantly, if they are at all likely to be interested in what you have to offer. You simply cannot sell steaks to a vegetarian!

You probably already know this basic stuff. Get to know your prospects by building a relationship with them. However, this is one skill newbie find it hard to grasp all at once which make them reluctant to go out to talk with people.

But, there is a solution which is still not known to most business owners.

What Does Online marketing Mean To You?

Bottom line: With today’s advancements in technology, if you own a home business and you are NOT marketing online, you won’t be a business owner for much longer.

Online marketing changes that and gives your marketing ’sniper’ like accuracy. With online marketing, you aren’t interested in marketing to everybody. You are only interested in those who have an interest in what you have to offer and you will only market (spend money) on those who have an interest in what you have got.

How do you do that?

The quickest way is to use Google to tell you who are interested in what you have got because over 90% of internet users are using Google for searching. This number is growing at a phenomenal rate each year. You bet Google can also tell you what a particular group of people is interested in. This is the key!

In short, building a business online is so much more effective. You can be in front of thousands of people in a short period of time. That means your customer list keeps growing, every minute without you. Yes, to begin it will take great effort and time in creating your capture page, sales letters, follow-up emails but you only do this once.

Now that’s leverage.

Are you envious of all those people who make a living using the internet? Please don’t. You can have what they have achieved if you are willing to give it a go. Building online business is not rocket science although it has a bit of art and science to it.

You have to look at marketing as a funnel. You start with a wide top that captures people who are interested in the product you have to offer and you qualify those people more and more at each level down of the funnel.

As you proceed with your marketing, your prospects proceed further and further down that funnel, qualifying themselves more and more.

Ultimately, you end up with only the hardcore who are attracted to join your business and those whom cannot wait to purchase your product.

And all of this can be done automatically and cheaply once you setup your attraction marketing system.

If you do this correctly, your marketing costs are self-funded which induces your potential customers to pay for your marketing, regardless of whether they buy your product or not.

Network Marketing – Your Reason Why

November 1st, 2009

The strength of your motivation for doing network marketing is what will keep you in the game. Like all of life network marketing poses challenges. There are good days and bad days. And unless you are doing it full time, you have your job to fall back on if it does not work out. Being a home based business mlm tends to be something that is easy to quit when the going gets rough.

And yet we know that if we don’t quit we will win. “Winners never quit and quitters never win”. An there are those statistics that someone like Mark Yarnell will comment on: for those who remain in any network marketing opportunity for ten or more years 95% will become wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. The other 5% were in it for the other benefits such as personal development and a bit of extra income and they will reach their goals too. So why quit?

There are probably as many excuses as there are people. But the underlying reasons are few.

1. It Doesn’t Work

Whether it is people saying it to us or our own experience, this would be the commonest one out there. No matter how good any mlm worker is they are going to encounter “Nos”. And it can be those closest to you who will give you your strongest no. The stronger the connection the more someone can hurt you. Some people talk to only a few people – two or three (or even at times ten) and get all “no” replies. If even their own mother or best mate will not join them in the business or become a customer how will anyone else? That might seem reasonable but the reality is not everyone sees it. And their refusal can be based on their past experience either directly personal or of someone else they knew who tried it and failed or never did much with it. Probably most of us know or are related to people like this.

But that good advice of taking care of those you take advice from is worthwhile. Do you listen to those who are broke to learn how to make money? Or a billionaire? Anyone in any business who has got anywhere will tell you it took some work. That is effort, coping with nos and with failures at times. The reason the successful ones in any business, mlm or otherwise, made it was that they never gave up. Ask anyone who has made it to honestly tell you how their time had been on the way up. Every single one will have had some dark, extremely tough time, probably many of them, when it would have seemed so much easier to give up. Most successful entrepreneurs have failed several times before they finally made it.

2. The Failure Of Those Under You

In mlm we build teams. And the teams are made up of all sorts of people. You are told when you come in that you never know who the good ones will be. It takes time, several months, and with some people several years, before you will see who the great ones are, the leaders and so on. In a networking home business you become quite close to your team. You are training them and hearing regularly how they are doing. Many people feel responsible for those on their team. When they fail to achieve great things they can take this personally. To some degree there is a personal responsibility. We should have been trained well by our upline. At times this was not so. They were still learning how to do this business and may have messed it up. We tend to duplicate the actions of our uplines for those in our downlines. What else do we know? This multiplication of less than ideal methods can result in very poor results compared with those doing it well.

There comes a point for every network marketer where they have to assume responsibility for their business. And, as in all life, we can ultimately be responsible for our own actions only. We cannot force people (at least not very successfully) to do those things they are not willing to do. If we wrongly accept responsibility for others in our team, when they fail, we feel like we have failed. The only things that really fail are a poor system (everything duplicates, good or bad) and the individual who makes a decision what is important for them.

It is possible to have whole upline members quit. If you are in mlm long enough this is bound to happen. They will have their own reason for quitting. A main one is that lack of stickability when they feel there is not enough success. They will usually blame the business and head for another one. At times they may be right. It might not be a good business fit for them. But if it is otherwise a successful company that did not conflict with their core values their experience of another company is likely to be the same as the previous one. We take ourselves with us wherever we go.

3. The Pain Of Personal Development

One of the great benefits of mlm business is personal development. There is very little else out there that creates the need for this in the same way. It is simple to understand why. You have your own business which is virtually totally dependent on you (not for the underlying business, but for how it develops – it is a reflection of you) for growth and results.

Each step up the ladder involves more responsibility and expectation from those under you. You grow or perish – or at the least, don’t advance. If you attain a position beyond where your development is you can either lose your team as they find you are not a strong enough rock to relate to, or you can stagnate while your development catches up. And if you are going to become financially independent in this lifestyle living off the huge rewards of ever-growing residual income, then for the sake of the planet, it is vital you have developed far beyond where you were when you first started your mlm business.

4. That Reason Why!

This is it! Most of us were told this when we joined. And most of us were told we needed to commit some years in the business to getting there. But back of it all, to remain in those years, to do what you have been told and not get results, or maybe not do them and then come back, or to be bold to try some new ways, you need a strong reason why. Your motivation. It is everything in the end.

For many this can change as they are in the system. Initially for many it will be about a little bit of extra money to cover rising petrol prices, mortgages etc, or financial independence. But the question at the back of financial independence is what do you want to do when you are financially independent? Apart from having a decent holiday at last, getting the home you always wanted, or the car, or providing for your children’s education, once you have all that covered, then what? It may take some time to see. And it will be an individual idea for each one of us. But think of this: with a huge financial purse to fund it, what could you do in this world? How would the world be different for you being here? What would you like to see happen?

Using Your Unconscious Mind

And for all of us this is the conviction we need to fall back on when all else seems to turn to custard. There will be days everything falls apart and it all looks so black and so hard. But the more you have fed your unconscious mind on that deep overwhelming reason why, the easier and faster it will be for you to drive on forward. We need to regularly feed ourselves on this deep reason. Picture it. Read about it. Dream of it as you go to sleep at night – the time it is most easy to get in contact with your unconscious mind – that part that controls 95% of all you do. Like the crew on the ship, where the captain is our conscious mind, unless the unconscious shares the understanding of where we want to head, it is unlikely to help us get there. Those other unconscious beliefs, values and goals will drag us where they want to go. So feed that unconscious – with dreams, images everywhere, daydreaming and direct suggestions.

If you don’t yet feel you have a strong reason why ask your unconscious mind to work on finding one for you. It will work for you while you sleep in the same way it will wake you before the alarm at some time it has been vital for you to get up early. The easiest way to do this is to address it directly three time in three different ways. Before you go to sleep (or if you wake up in the night not being able to go back to sleep) tell it then: “Unconscious mind I want you to search for a huge reason why I should be doing my network marketing business. As I sleep I want you to search all possibilities and present to me a massive motivation for doing my mlm business. By the time I wake unconscious mind I want you to reveal to me the best reason I should do my home business.” You can instruct it to help you remember it too. It will! It is like an obedient crew. It needs definite and clear instructions for what it is to do, and it will perform. Otherwise, with no clear direction, it will give you that sort of result. You can instruct it in the same way to give you a great night’s sleep as well. Try it. It works!

Once your motivation is sorted and it is locked deep into your unconscious mind there is no way you cannot succeed. When you meet an obstacle it will work out for you, if necessary overnight, how to get around it. It will give you new and creative ideas as to how to grow your business. And it will seem to magnetically draw people and opportunities to you – those who will best help you in the accomplishment of the task. Did you ever read Napoleon Hill’s “Think And Grow Rich” book and wonder at the end what it was all about?

Common Complaints About Network Marketing

September 8th, 2009

There are a number of network marketing complaints that people have that stops them from getting involved. Although some are legitimate reasons to stay away, some are based in myth. Network marketing can be one of the most lucrative home based businesses if you get into the right opportunity.

The Problem with Network Marketing

Most people have at one time in their lives started with an opportunity that looked good on the surface and then once they paid for their kit they received no help. They came in under a hyped up situation and realized quickly that they needed more than what they were told they needed to get started.

Other people started the program thinking that it was something they were going to get rich on and when they saw that it takes time they pulled out. They wanted something quick and easy.

Whether you are a sponsor or someone who comes into the business you have to understand that network marketing is a business.

Common Complaints

There are basically two common complaints with any network marketing program:

I was told I could make money fast. This is actually true but what you are not told by some companies is that to make money quickly you will have to work the business full time. You have to look at it as a business and you have to do whatever it takes to get things done. You have to cultivate relationships, talk to people daily and be enthusiastic about your product.

My sponsor doesn’t help. Generally speaking sponsors that get into network marketing only know how to bring people into the business. They do not know what to do with them after they are in. There is also the myth that you should give up on someone who is not producing.

The Challenge For Network Marketers

The challenge for network marketers is they have to rethink what they are doing. You have to have the attitude that this is a business and that you can benefit from it if you do the business. Once other people join you, there must be time for you to teach them how to do the business.

Although we want to believe that everyone who comes in really wants to be in business for themselves but the truth is only a small portion of individuals want a business. The rest will continue to look for something they cannot find.

What is a Network Marketing Home Business?

August 28th, 2009

You might have heard of people who are able to earn an income from home, but did you ever think it was possible for you to be one of them? Hopefully you did, because it is definitely possible! It’s time for you to get the facts so you can see how opportunities like this can truly change your life. Especially with the state of the economy right now. Jobs are not secure. So, Many People are turning to the Internet to create an income for themselves.

First of all, it’s important to understand what network marketing is. It is basically when a company has a product or group of products, and allows individual sellers to market their products in exchange for some of the money made. These individuals (you!) usually pay a small fee to join, and are often asked to use the products yourself.

What makes things really fun is that it’s truly driven by the people. Affiliates of the product are able to have people sign up under them. When that happens, they get a share of the profits made by the person they recruited. If you can imagine, as you start to get more people ‘under you’, your income can increase quite a bit!

The social aspect is also very fun. Even though network marketing home business companies try to make this as foolproof as possible, there is a learning curve for most things in life! That’s where the other people on your team really step in. Those who have had more experience selling the product and recruiting others are invaluable as they give you advice and encourage you along the way.

Of course, since you’re researching how to start a home business you’re probably most interested in how much money you can make with these opportunities. This actually varies quite a bit! Person A might earn a full time income pretty much right away, while it might take person B a year or more to reach the same point. You also have to consider the different payment structures within the companies.

After you’ve decided that having a home business is right for you, you’ll need to choose the one you want to join. This can become very overwhelming since there are so many out there! The best way to do this is look to your passions. For example, if you’re interested in helping people live happier, healthier lives you’ll want to look for an opportunity that helps people do that. It’s all about following your passions, using the social aspect, and dedicating yourself to making money.

Finding a great network marketing home business is your next step now that you know this information. While this can seem like a daunting task, it’s definitely not if you do your research. It can even be quite fun! Think of this as the first day before you start your life as a business owner. You can look back in a year and be thrilled at the great income you’ve made as an entrepreneur.
